Each month, we distribute awards to students who have displayed the 3 R's to Success!

RESPECT

Means to treat others with kindness. Resolve conflicts in a healthy way via verbal communication. 

Maintain all classrooms Leap uses in an orderly fashion and follow the rules of the adults in the program. 

RESPONSIBILITY

Means to come to the LEAP program on the days you are assigned.  

Contact the program to inform Jeneen and Cristina of absences and come straight to the cafeteria at dismissal time. 

READY TO LEARN

Means being open to try new things and listening to your teacher.

LEAP Families! You're invited to our Spring Celebration!

For the first time in MS 51 history, all activity classes will come together to make one presentation! This year we will presenting an original play titled 'Time Travels". The play will begin at 5:30 in the auditorium. If you want to join us for pizza and cupcakes, we will have a party for students at 4:30 pm in the cafeteria.

LEAP Families! Important Program Closure Dates!

LEAP Families! Please join us for our Winter Celebration!

Our semi-annual celebration of LEAP student talent will be on display in two formats: 
Gallery- Peruse student-made traditional and non-traditional art, websites, writing pieces and more in a relaxed setting.
Classes presenting: Coding, Engineering for Good, Yoga, Girl Talk, Power Hour, Creative Arts, and Comic Book Making.

Performance- Be awed by dynamic performances from our performing arts, leadership, and physical activity classes!
Classes presenting: Drama, Improv, Dance, Drum, Yoga, Power Hour, Basketball

Time: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Place: Caf (5:00pm-6:00pm), Auditorium (6:00pm-7:00pm)
Price: Free!

Please note: LEAP will begin at their normal time (2:40pm). Classes will follow a modified schedule. If your child is attending and does not normally attend LEAP on Mondays, please instruct them to come straight down to the cafeteria on Monday after school dismissal.

Families, please mark Monday, December 17th on your calendars! On that day, we will have our semi-annual celebration of LEAP student talent. Students in our enrichment classes will show off everything they've been working on since September! We will release the exact times and locations for the gallery and performance presentations soon. 

There will be pizza for students and families. We can't wait to see you there!

LEAP Families! Please be aware of the following schedule changes!

Wednesday, November 21st- Classes will end at 5pm. We will have 2 shortened activity periods.

Tuesday, November 27th- There will be no LEAP classes.

LEAP Families! LEAP at MS 51 is excited to announce our annual family Halloween party! 

All LEAP students and families are welcome to attend.

Families, if you would like to donate bottled drinks or packaged goods, please bring them to room B19 (you may drop them off before or of the day of the party.) If you are donating a homemade baked good, please include an ingredient list.

Students who are attending the party who don't normally attend LEAP on Tuesdays must come down to the cafeteria at 3:00pm.

Evening of Sunday, September 16th - Class Rosters will appear and be posted on the website. (This is how you know your child is in the program!)

Monday, September 17th - First day of LEAP! All students registered for Monday classes are required to come straight down the cafeteria at 2:40 pm!

Wednesday, September 19th- Yom Kippur. DOE schools closed.

What is LEAP orientation?
An information session outlining LEAP policies, procedures, and program offerings. Families will also have the oportunity to meet LEAP staff and have their questions answered.
Families must attend LEAP orientation to submit their child/ren's application and secure a spot in the LEAP program.
Please bring your student to orientation! Students will be treated to a fun-filled kid friendly orientation that introduces LEAP staff and rules.
When is LEAP orientation?
September 7*
First Leap Family Orientation

*Students of families that attend orientation will have a spot in the program, but to make sure your child gets first choice of classes, we recommend coming to our first session!

-We strongly encourage to bring your child/ren with you so that we may answer any questions they may have!
Do I need to attend orientation and fill out a new application even if my child/ren participated in LEAP last year?

Jeanine Espinosa was an active member of LEAP. She attended Drum and Dance, Empowerment and Drama.
